Steven McCubbins

MORGANTOWN – Steven James McCubbins, age 77, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024 peacefully at his home. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 11, 1947 to James and Mildred (Wadsworth) McCubbins. He graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. He worked for the National Starch & Chemical company in Indianapolis, Indiana after serving in the military until his retirement. Steve greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish, hunt, and camp. He was an active participant in a fishing club, and they were known as the Rockin’ Reelers. He loved to ride his motorcycle when he got the chance, especially when he could participate in charity rides. Steve greatly enjoyed entertaining his friends and family with hospitality during get togethers. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa McCubbins-Harris, Carrie (Chris) Macklin, and Stephanie (John) Ford; sisters, Martha (Leonard) Pence, Phyllis (David) McIntyre, and Shirley McCubbins (Paul Berry); twelve grandchildren, Michaela McCubbins, Nicholas McCubbins, Brisa Harris, Braven Harris, Lacey McCubbins, Taylor McCubbins, Kiersten (Joe) Wilhoit, Carson Macklin, Ashley (Autumn Kilmon) Hunt, Mackenzie (Charles) Burchfield, Journey Ford, and John Lukas Ford; and twenty-one great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred McCubbins; and son, Steven James McCubbins Jr. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Chaplain Vey Kidney will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana with military honors.
