Riley Lou Toon

NEW PALESTINE – Riley Lou Toon, age 85, of New Palestine, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014. She was born on February 28, 1929 in Indianapolis as the daughter of James and Lucille (Arvin) Angell. She graduated from New Palestine High School. Riley married Donald R. Toon on November 28, 1959 in Indianapolis. She worked for Indiana Department of Natural Resources for ten years and was the owner of Toon’s Restaurant and Recreation for 16 years. Mrs. Toon was a member of the American Legion Post #70 in Shelbyville, The Grover Museum, and the Bear Paw Quilt Guild of Shelbyville. Riley was a part of the Indianapolis Quilt Guild, Common Threads of New Palestine, Red Hat Society of Indianapolis. She was also active with the Order of Eastern Star of New Palestine, Golden Threads of Indianapolis; and The Sky High Club of Indianapolis. Riley is survived by her three daughters, Christy (James) Harper of New Palestine, Cindy (Joseph) Larrabee of Superior, Wisconsin, and Melody (David) Ulrey of New Palestine; eight grandchildren, Jason O’Dell, Kimberly Brooks, Lesa Raihala, Steven Larrabee, Jill Larrabee, Christopher Ulrey, Kyle Ulrey, and Nicholas Ulrey; and 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald R. Toon; son, Charles “Sonny” Osborne, Jr.; and three brothers, Robert, Thomas and John Angell. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation. Pastor Dan Koenig will be officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
