Michael Thomas Drake

NEW PALESTINE – Michael Thomas Drake, age 72, of New Palestine, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Arlington Place Health Campus in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 14, 1951 to Charles and Doris Mae (Loos) Drake. After graduating high school, he continued his education at Newport News University in Newport News, Virginia. Michael received a bachelor’s degree in computer programing. He proudly served in the United States Army during 1978 through 1981. He married Evelyn (Meyer) Drake on August 16, 2003 in Hampton, Virginia. Throughout his career, Michael worked for various companies through the government as a computer programmer until his retirement. He was an active and devoted member and elder of the Faith Lutheran Church. He proudly held the position of chairman of stewardship and devoted much of his time to teaching Sunday school. He was also an avid bowler and was even a Singles State of Virginia Championship Bowler. Michael loved and cherished his church family. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Meyer) Drake of New Palestine, Indiana; daughter, Vanessa (Thomas) Bohner of Bindlach, Germany; stepchildren, Deborah (Ronald) Crain of New Castle, Indiana and Douglas (Ellen) McBride of Louisville, Kentucky; sister, Deborah Walker of SeaTac, Washington; three grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, and Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Layton and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris Mae (Loos) Drake; and stepmother, Bernice Drake. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 200 West McKenzie Road, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Reverend William Daniel O’Connor will be officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
