J.Russell Couch

NEW PALESTINE- J. Russell Couch began life in Salt Lick, Kentucky, on April 29, 1927, the youngest son of 14 children. At age 82, he passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by his family on April 5, 2010. On December 4, 1954, he married Elizabeth (Kissick) Couch, the love of his life for 55 years. He dedicated his life to Christ, his family, and his friends. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Indianapolis. After high school, he served in the Korean War with the United States Army. After his time in the military, he moved to New Castle, Indiana, and began working for Chrysler Motor Company where he was employed for 13 years. He eventually relocated to New Palestine, Indiana, and worked with Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis. He retired from Ford Motor Company in April of 1991 after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted employee and had great pride for the Ford Company and their accomplishments. He was a man who most loved his wife, his 4 grown children and spouses, 10 grandchildren, and his one great-grandchild. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Couch; his children, Steve (Kara) Couch of New Palestine, Gregg (Angela) Couch of London, England, Chris (Sheri) Couch of Columbus, and Sally (Brian) Spurlock of Fishers; his beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jennings, Courtney, Sommer, Spencer, Angelina, Savannah, Sierra, and Chloe; great-grandchild, Kaelynn; brother, Monroe Couch of Hudson, FL; sister, Rena Woolf of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Luther and Lillie Ann (Barker) Couch; and eleven siblings. He will be forever loved, remembered, and missed by his multitudes of family and good friends. God has been very good to him. Please join us in the celebration of Russell Couch’s life. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 8, 2010, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 9, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial with military honors will take place at New Palestine Cemetery and Reverend Jon VanderWeir will be officiating.
