Harvey David Reeves

GREENFIELD – Harvey David Reeves, age 90, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born in Greenfield on November 28, 1935, to Delbert L. and Dorothy L. (Strubbe) Reeves. Harvey graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 1953 and married Janet Sue Bright on April 16, 1955, in Shirley, Indiana. Harvey worked for many years at Reeves Sand and Gravel as a heavy equipment operator before becoming superintendent. He retired from Citizens Gas Company, where he worked as a Hosler. Harvey was a past vice president of the Hancock County Board of Zoning Appeals and a longtime member of the Elks Club. Harvey found joy in a variety of activities—attending the Indy 500, cheering on Purdue, playing cards (especially poker and euchre), and spending days fishing at the gravel pit. He treasured his annual trips to Las Vegas with Janet to attend the National Finals Rodeo. Above all, Harvey was deeply proud of his family and cherished the time he spent with them. He is survived by his two daughters, Debbie (David) Jackson and Kim (Dan) Devoy; four grandchildren, Nathan (Bethany Stacey) Jackson, Megan (Chad) Wallace, Nicole Raffaelli, and Dante (Kaitlin Moore) Raffaelli; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden, Clara, Charles, Molly, Cameron, Leo, Matteo, and Sofia; and his sister, Joan Miller; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; his parents, Delbert and Dorothy; his sister, Doris Apple; and nephews, Phillip Miller and Greg Apple. Visitation will be held Friday, December 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. Hwy. 40, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. A funeral service will follow immediately at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor David Woods officiating. A private burial will be held Monday, December 29, 2025, at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cystic Fibrosis of Indiana supporting research benefiting many individuals, including Harvey’s great-granddaughter, Sofia.
