Dean A. Morris

Dean A. Morris, age 58, of Wilkinson, died at home on August 3, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 21, 1949 in the town of Logansport, Indiana to Joe Ancil & Betty Jean Morris. He attended New Waverly Elementary, Tipton Township Schools and graduated from Washington Township (Lewis Cass) in 1967. Dean served as a Sergeant in the United States Army as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic with the USAR Control Group Reinforcement in Vietnam from 1969-1975. He worked 12 years for Wilson Foods Corporation in Logansport, Indiana. He resigned his position to open his own garage in Anoka, Indiana. In 1994 he began working for International Truck and Engine Corporation (Navistar) in Indianapolis, Indiana until his illness. He served his fellow employees as Union President of Local 98. Dean was a Mason, belonging to the Sugar Creek Lodge of Fairland, Indiana. He also belonged to the Murat Shriners of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dean is survived by his wife Ellie “Mickey” Schilling-Morris; three sons, Jayson Wadde Richardson PhD, Joshua Gene Richardson and his wife Margaret Elizabeth, and Brandon Matthew Morris; two daughters, Tiffany Dawn Cox and Deanna Louise Wolf and her husband Brian Lee Wolf. He will be sadly missed by four grandchildren, Savanna Lee Brock, McKenna Alexandria Wolf, Landon Jackson Wolf, and Griffin Lee Wolf. He is further survived by dedicated and loving friends. Dean was preceded in death by his father, Joe Ancil Morris in 1983. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 West US 40, Greenfield, Indiana. Funeral services for Dean A. Morris will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 7th at Erlewein Mortuary. Military burial will follow at Simmons Cemetery, County Road 500, Wilkinson, Indiana. A memorial dinner immediately following burial will be generously provided by the Nameless Creek Christian Church, 3812 North 800 East, Greenfield, Indiana. Our family extends a welcome to all friends and family to attend this last memorial to a husband, a dad, a grandpa, a veteran and a wonderful friend!
