David Biedenkopf

INDIANAPOLIS - David Boyes Biedenkopf, age 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 10, 1947 to Carl C. and Eveline (Boyes) Biedenkopf. He graduated from Rockport High School in Rockport, Indiana in 1965. David went on to further his education at Sam's Architectural School, graduating in 1967, later adding an associates degree in Electrical engineering and then graduated from Vincennes University with a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology in 2003. David married his lifelong friend, Jeri Smith, on August 31, 1968 in Grandview, Indiana. David began his career at Beam Longest Neff in 1967, helping to design the famed Spaghetti Bowl in downtown Indianapolis. He continued his career at P.R. Mallory (later, C.M.W.) as a Metallurgical Engineer for over 40 years, until his retirement. After two long years of relaxation, David began his retirement career as resident jack of all trades at Stanley Chevrolet. David was a long-time member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and the NHRA-Championship drag racing, serving as a pit crew member. David received his private pilot license in the early 70s and found he enjoyed planes without engines, joining a local Soaring Society. David had a passion for vehicles and enjoyed taking his vintage Corvette for a spin on sunny days. David was also a carpenter, outdoors enthusiast, boater and avid reader. David was an animal lover, routinely providing a home for harder to adopt cats or those needing shelter from the cold. While David was known for his many gifts and talents, he was most known for always being there for the people he loved and assisting those around him. He was kind, reassuring, dependable and a person that everyone wanted to get to know. His family meant the whole world to him, and he will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Biedenkopf; daughter, Megan (Ben) Biedenkopf-Lord; extended family members, other loved ones and beloved cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eveline Biedenkopf. Per David's wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. The family asks that you honor David's memory by paying it forward and helping those in need.
