Borden E. King

GREENFIELD – Borden E. King, age 88, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Revelo, KY on August 30, 1937, to Herbert W. and Stella Mae (Ball) King. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1966. He married Helga M. Stewart on July 25, 1987, in Mohawk, IN. Borden worked for the United States Corrugated Box Company as a machine operator and then later a supervisor for ten years before going onto work at Chrysler as a machinist for over thirty years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the UAW Local #1226 and Local #550. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the National Parks. Borden especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Helga; stepchildren, Diana (Kevin) Hood, Michelle (Pat) Gilaspy, and Jason (Brandy) Stewart; seven grandchildren, Josh, Katie, Sara, Chyan, Ciara, Lilly, and Kason; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Adalyn, Gatlin, Gunnar, Amelia, Ainsley, Grace, and Isiah; siblings, Elizabeth Byrd, Bob (Joan) King, and William (Peggy) King; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert W. and Stella Mae King; son, Danny King; brothers, Don King and Wiley King; sisters, Joyce Watson and Ruth Powell; brothers-in-law, J.B. Watson, Don Powell, and Odis Byrd; and sister-in-law, Katherine King. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Fred Powers will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
