John ''Johnny'' Meredith

December 29, 1961 - January 13, 2022

GREENFIELD – John “Johnny” Meredith, age 60, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. Born on December 29, 1961, in Greenfield, he was the son of John Robert and Loretta Meredith. Johnny was a 1980 graduate of Lawrence North High School. He worked for Auto Plus, in Indianapolis, as an assistant manager for over 25 years. Johnny loved many things. He was a one of a kind type of man. His passion for life and infectious enthusiasm were unmatched. He was funny, caring and above all else selfless. Johnny loved the outdoors, grilling, camping, fishing at lake Monroe, and attending the Indy 500. Johnny also loved his country and took pride in his flag flying proud and high in his yard. He loved his friends and maintained lifelong relationships that left an undeniable impact on everyone who knew him. He was a devoted man who spent his time watching his son Tyler play football for years and carried that passion onto watching his granddaughters Reagan and Lilly play softball. He was always there beaming with pride, support and encouragement. However his favorite nights were spent around a backyard campfire with the woman he loved most. A devoted companion, friend, father, grampa and an all around great man. John R. Meredith was a lot of things to a lot of people and will be missed dearly. Johnny is survived by his longtime companion and partner, Penny Lawyer of Greenfield; son, Tyler (Caitlin) Lawyer of Greenfield; granddaughters, Reagan and Lilly; grandson, Cannon, who is on the way; sisters, whom he loved, Sherrie, Robin, and Lorie; sister-in-law, Wendy Vandenbark of Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Loretta Meredith; and sister, Tara Meredith. A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will be held on a later date at Lake Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard, 2302 W.
