William "Bill" H. Wolf

GREENFIELD-William H. Wolf, age 91, died September 13, 2011. He was the son of Paul H. and Ora (Jones) Wolf. He was raised in Morristown. He graduated from Westtown Friends School PA, and Earlham College. Prior to entering the service he attended Harvard Business School. He was a Lieutenant (sg) in the Navy and was stationed at the Office of the Naval Attache, American Embassy in Havana, Cuba. Upon returning to Morristown, he attended Indiana University School of Law from which he graduated in 1950 and entered the practice of law with William E. Bussel in Greenfield. At the time of his death he practiced law with his daughter Sarah at Wolf Law Firm. He was a Fellow of the Indiana State Bar Foundation and admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court. He served for two years as President of the Hancock County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was active in the Democratic Party, serving for seventeen years as chairman of the Hancock County Democratic Party and was also a district chair, serving on the Democrat State Committee. He also was the state Democratic candidate for the office of the Attorney General of Indiana in 1956. Participating in politics was important to him and he had many friends through that activity, both Democrat and Republican. Two governors of the State of Indiana recognized him as a Sagamore of the Wabash. He was a member of the Dale Kuhn Post 120 American Legion and served for many years as its Judge Advocate and also served as Judge Advocate of the State American Legion. He was a member of the Greenfield Elks Lodge, a charter member of the Skyline Club, and was a member of the Antelope Club. He attended Greenfield Friends Church. Bill was married to Mary Jane Vermillion on April 22, 1950, and she survives him. They have four daughters: Sarah, Martha, Pamela and Paula. Paula is married to Mike Weninger and has two children, William (Will) Wolf Weninger and Ruby Marie Weninger. He is also survived by his sister, Marian Wolf Thoms, as well as several nieces, nephews, and their children. Preceding him in death were his sisters, Joan and Virginia. Visitation will take place on Friday, September 16, 2011, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Greenfield Friends Church, 323 West Park Avenue, Greenfield, Indiana, 46140. Pastors Rick Schoeff and Paul Enyart will be officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown with military rites.
