Victor Edward Craney

GREENFIELD – Victor Edward Craney, age 69, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 20, 1947 in Washington, IN as the son of Victor J. and Mary H. (Doyle) Craney. He graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1965. Mr. Craney received his associates degree from Vincennes University in 1970. He served in the Army and while stationed in Germany married Kay E. (Ponder) on October 27, 1967. He retired from Roll Coater where he was the production planning manager for most of his 30+ year career. He most recently worked as a Hancock County Correction Officer for over 10 years. Vic loved gardening, working outside, playing country and bluegrass music. He most of all loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Victor is survived by his wife, Kay Craney of Greenfield; children, Kim (Scott) Connell of Indianapolis, Steve (Tonya) Craney of Greenfield, Jonathan (Shannon) Craney of Greenfield and Alan (Amber) Craney of Greenfield; siblings, Theresa Berry of Loogootee, IN, Eula (Ronald) Traylor of Jasper, IN, Beverly Carrico of Indianapolis, Mary Sue (Paul) Crouse of Rising Sun, OH, Louis (Sarah) Craney of Centralia, IL, Martha (Robert) Green of Converse, IN, Ronald (Fran) Craney of Indianapolis, Rita (Dennis) Lillpop of Greenwood, IN and Kathy Fritchie of Prairieville, LA; and eight grandchildren, Alexa, Erin, Dayza, Christopher, Hayden, Haylee, Jaci and Jolie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Mary Craney; sister, Rosie Boese; and four nephews, Charles Berry, Christopher Craney, Tim Craney, and Buster Traylor. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
