R. Max Greenwalt

GREENFIELD– R. Max Greenwalt, age 70, passed away on September 1, 2010, at his home in Greenfield. Born on October 18, 1939, in New Castle, he was the son of Floyd L. and Mary E. (Bloom) Greenwalt. Max graduated from Knightstown High School in 1958 and married Loretta Kline on July 26th that year. They were happily married for 52 years. Prior to 1978, he was involved in the commercial industrial mechanical construction field and taught adult education at Tech. Max and Loretta founded Greenfield Builders in 1978 and along with their sons founded Greenwalt Development in 1988 and established GreenTree Senior Communities in 1995. Max was an active member of Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church for 45 years, and served on the Indiana Central District Board of Administration for 20 years. He also served on the Indiana Wesleyan University Board of Trustees and on the Economic Board for Circle Seven. Mr. Greenwalt was a past member of the Greenfield Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He loved the Lord, his family, helping others, traveling, music, flowers, and being at his home on Marco Island, Florida. Surviving him are his wife, Loretta (Kline) Greenwalt of Greenfield; children, Lynn (Rhonda) Greenwalt of Greenfield, Jeff (Pamela) Greenwalt of Carmel, and Dr. Jama (Randy) Davis of Fishers; brother, Paul (Robin) Greenwalt of Angola; grandchildren, Tyler, Kasie, Christian, Kitty, Cole, Aaron and Sarah Greenwalt, and Ian and Amanda Davis; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Greenwalt; and brother-in-law, Vance (Margaret) Kline of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be on Friday, September 3, 2010, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church in Greenfield. Burial will take place at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
