Paul E. Green Sr.

SAN BENITO, TX - Paul E. Green, Sr. passed away unexpectedly after a short illness in San Benito, Texas where he had retired. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Donald Evan Green, Sr. and Marie Frances (Rogers) Green-Willoughby. Mr. Green was a proud U. S. Army Sergeant First Class who served during the Berlin Crisis and throughout the Vietnam Conflict. He received the Distinguished Service Cross for his service. He was a 31-year member of Speedway American Legion Post 500. He was also the Commander of the 82nd and 237th Engineer Battalions Reunion Organization at the time of his passing, as well as a member of the San Benito, Texas Elks Club where he led the Wii bowling tournaments. He also participated in the Indiana Circle City dart tournaments. Mr. Green lived in Indiana most of his life where he served in the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and worked at Consolidated Freight, the Greyhound Bus Lines and for Pike Township as a school bus driver. He is survived by two brothers, George (Arleta) Green and Mark (Marilyn) Green; six children, Deborah L. (David) Kwiecien, Sr., Susan M. (Charles) Nash, Paul E. (Victoria) Green, Jr., Carl W. (Cathy) Green, Amy E. (Daniel) Simms and Steve Moore. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason W. (Shay) Cribbs, D. Troy Kwiecien, Jr., Jessica (Randall) Christopher, Brandy (Jason) Arens, April (Tim) Brock, Rusty L (Kelly) Nash, Kenneth (Ann)Nash, Anthony and Nicholas Nash, Brian (Wu) Schaefer, Matt (Lindsey) Gehrt, Donovan Green, Heather (Kyle) Taylor, Craig, Adam, Kimberly and Chloe Green, Nora Hamilton, Amber Green, Meaghan Green, Anna (Brandon) Hazlett, Austin and Olivia Terry, Carson Green, Lauren (Jeffrey) Biggs, Zach, Jake and Sydney Moore, Timothy J. (Mandy) Politte, Richard H. (Chelsea) Honkomp, and Dennis C.E. Politte. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Zachary and Kendra Heath, Lillian Kwiecien, Shyann McCallister, Kaleb Deyoe, Michia Eckelberger, Tyler Mahan, Elijah Abrams, Reese Greco, Zoe Arens, Abigail Welsh-Arens, Renee Stewart, Rebecca, Isabell, and Alexander Brock, Hannah, Connor and Kurtis Nash, Aileen and Taylor Bruzaitis, Franklin Schaefer, Elias Taylor, Emily Elsner, Cadence and Kyla Hamilton, Ayana Green, Daniel Allison, Carroll and Brentley Hazlett and Brayden Graf. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mothers of his children, E. Jean (McGinnis) Green and Judith M. (Pavey) Green; two granddaughters, Jennifer R. Cribbs and Katharine M. Kwiecien; a daughter-in-law, Carroll S. (Schilling) Green; great-granddaughter, Miranda Hazlett; step-granddaughter, Leah Nash; three brothers, Earl W. Green, Donald E. Green, and David R. Green; and one sister, Carol E. McGuire. He will be missed dearly by many nieces, nephews and friends. Interment will be at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana on September 16, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. with Full Military Honors.
