Patricia L. Barnes

MORRISTOWN – Patricia L. Barnes, age 82, of Morristown, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021 at Community East Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis on March 24, 1939 to Harold L. Haslet and Bessie J. (Coffman) Haslet. She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1957. On June 21, 1957, she married James Richard Barnes in Indianapolis. Patricia owned and managed West Side Pizza in New Palestine for several years and then worked as a secretary treasurer for Southern Hancock School Corporation. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Morristown and volunteered with the Good News Club at Morristown Elementary School. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, reading, and various puzzles. She liked watching basketball and football, particularly the Pacers, Butler, and the Colts. Patricia loved spending time with her family, including traveling with them and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She is survived by her loving husband, James R. Barnes of Morristown; children, James Richard Barnes Jr. “Rick” of Shelbyville, David Barnes of Shelbyville, and Julie Barnes Munson of New Palestine, formerly of Morristown; sister, Judith Stansbery of Cloverdale; grandchildren, Justin Stone (Meredith), Lesley Grimes (Garet), Nathan Barnes (Kaytlyn), Patrick Munson, Alayna Munson, and Sophia Munson; great-grandchildren, Jase Stone, Oliver Grimes, and Brantley Barnes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bessie; sister, Meriam Miller; and daughter-in-law, Nyla Barnes. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. also at the mortuary with viewing one hour prior to the service. Pastor Wayne Scott will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
