Michele A. Smith

GREENFIELD – Michele A. Smith, age 67, of Greenfield, passed away on August 22, 2011, in Greenfield. Born on July 30, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of John Henry and Olga Louise (Trenton) Seargent. Michele graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, Ohio and married James Smith on October 3, 1970, in Parma, Ohio. She then earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree at Parma School of Nursing and her Registered Nursing degree at Marian College . Michele had most recently worked as a Case Manager/Hospice RN for Community Home Health Services. She retired in 2010. Michele was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield and was a current member of Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in New Palestine. She was a member of the American Nursing Association, the Hancock County Christian Women’s Club, and was a Love, Inc. volunteer. She was also a member of the Indianapolis Parish Nursing Association and the ELCA Lutheran Church Parish Nursing Association. Throughout her 47 years of nursing in Central Indiana, she loved to organize blood drives and would go out of her way to help friends who needed care. Surviving her are her husband, James Smith of Greenfield; children, David Michael (Joelee) Smith of Indianapolis, Brian Scott Smith of Kentucky, and Christopher Jon (Sacha) Smith of Greenfield; grandchildren, Riley, Noah, and Becky Smith, Brittany Kaylan Hipkiss, and Madysen and Cadan Smith; sister, Patricia (Paul) Klemme of Strongsville, Ohio; and niece and nephew, Paul Eric Klemme and Laura Smith. Preceding her in death were her parents and grandmother, Louise “Grady” Ursic. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 26, 2011, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, 3519 S. 600 W., New Palestine, Indiana, 46163. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at noon at the church with additional visitation taking place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastors Mark Havel and Fred Hubert will be officiating. The family would like to request that flowers not be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B.
