Larraine Parks

Larraine (Scott) Parks, 72 of Freedom, Indiana passed away at home unexpectedly after a brief illness on September 4th, 2021. Larraine was born on October 12th, 1948, in New Palestine, IN to Paul and Lois Scott. Larraine had four children from her first marriage to Merlyn Yeager. On August 29, 2020, she married the love of her life and life partner of 16 years, Ronald Parks. Larraine was a 1966 graduate of New Palestine High School. She graduated from Indiana University with a nursing degree at age 33. She continued her education and earned a Masters’ degree in Nursing in 2006. Larraine’s childhood dream of being a nurse was accomplished as her first focus was on critical care pediatrics, followed by cardiac critical care, and lastly managing an emergency department in Albuquerque, NM. In retirement, she volunteered time with the American Academy of Critical-Care Nurses. Larraine enjoyed baking, gardening, following fashion, and care for her home. She loved her family and enjoyed volunteering with them locally at the Tivoli. Larraine & Ronald together found adventures for Scott to do locally living in Albuquerque and Spencer, particularly through involvement in the Special Olympics. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bloomington, Indiana. Survivors include spouse: Ronald Parks (Freedom, IN). Children: Camille Alfs (Court), Avon, IN; Rachel Caswell (Jason), Ellettsville, IN; Merlyn Yeager II (Courtney), Spencer, IN; Scott Yeager, Freedom, IN. Siblings: Wilma Pfeifer (Harold), New Palestine, IN; Brian Scott (Beth), Greenfield, IN. Grandchildren: Taylor Alfs (Brittani); Isaiah Alfs (Trisha); Sarah Hutchens (Nathan); Austin Davis; Zachary Alfs (Emily); Alexis Prince (Sean); Elizabeth Yeager; Andrew Yeager; Savannah Grimes; Ryder Caswell; Abigail Yeager; Gunnar Caswell; Emma Yeager; Jaeger Caswell & Asher Caswell and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by Nancy Proffitt, sibling. Paul Scott & Lois Mitford, parents. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on September 14, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Masks will be required for inside services and viewing.
