Joy Kay Carf

FORTVILLE – Joy Kay (Maynard) Carf, age 64, of Fortville, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at her home. She was born in Indianapolis on March 5, 1961, to Robert C. and Gladys (Davenport) Maynard. She attended Warren Central High School before moving and graduating from Greenfield Central High School in 1979. Joy worked as a Journeyman Carpenter for 36 years of service before retiring on August 1, 2019; coincidentally the same day her first grandchild was born. She was a member of the Indiana Carpenters Union Local 301. Joy was very detail oriented, very skilled at her craft, and was very well-respected in her work. She enjoyed glamping, shopping, gardening, and euchre, which she was a proud trophy holder of the family euchre tournament. Joy was always willing to help friends and family, enjoyed going to concerts with her friends, loved pork tenderloins at Riley Days, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Ashley (Scott) Siegel and Megan (Codie) Pate; three grandchildren, Michael, Charlotte, and Gunnar; siblings, Randall J. (Terri) Maynard and Tammy J. (Robert Robinson) Maynard; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William C. Maynard. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The family will leave Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in procession at 9:30 a.m. and invites those who wish to join and accompany them in procession to Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Due to family medical conditions, the family asks that guests do not send fresh flowers and refrain from wearing cologne, perfumes, and other fragrances.
