Jon "Buddy" Trusty, Jr.

NEW PALESTINE –Jon Caton “Buddy” Trusty, Jr., age 54, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 13, 2011. Buddy was born on May 20, 1957 in Evansville, IN to Jon and Clara (Cooper) Trusty. Buddy suffered a heart attack while racing his RZR’s at the Badlands. He died doing something he loved. As his dad appropriately nicknamed him, “Buddy” years ago, he was a rare man. Funny, loyal, generous and a kindhearted friend are some of the things that come to mind when thinking of him. He knew how to love people and especially family and friends. You always knew where you stood with Buddy! Those fortunate enough to have met or known him can think of their own time when he made them laugh, cry or smile; he was a storyteller. Buddy married his wife Sindy on June 13, 1981 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a 1975 graduate of Triton High School and a 1982 Engineering graduate from Purdue University. Buddy enjoyed traveling with his wife, working on vehicles, ice hockey, shooting guns, four wheeling, racing any kind of vehicles with Nick and friends and going on runs with the “Wrecker Lot” Boys. One of his greatest pleasures was boating with his friends and family. He loved to, as they say “go all in” to any hobby, interest or challenge he took on. Buddy touched and inspired many along the “ride” with him. Those who knew him will continue to pay tribute to Buddy by putting the same energy into the ride called Life! IF IT WAS BROKE, HE COULD FIX IT! IF IT COULD BE CONCEPTUALIZED, HE COULD BUILD IT! As President of Trusty-Cook, which he started with his dad over 30 years ago, Buddy was an integral part of inventing and developing the Dead Blow Hammer and many other products that have all led to a successful business. His engineering talents were rare and legendary, but will be preserved and missed. The results of his work have made a lasting impact that will live on forever. He is preceded in death by his father, Jon Caton Trusty, Sr.; and sister, Julie Trusty-Nawrot. He is survived by his wife, Sindy Trusty and their children, Jon Nicholas “Nick” and Mitchell Tyler “Mitch Trusty. Also surviving him are his mother, Clara Trusty; brothers, Jerry (Angie) Trusty, and Joel (Theresa) Trusty; brother-in-law, Jeff Nawrot; nieces, Shelby, Sierra, Olivia, Blaire, Isabelle, Morgan, Maegan, Lacie and Kellye; nephews, Brock, Cooper, Ryan, Doug and Casey; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He had a soft spot for Mitch and any of the girls in his family, especially his MAMA. A celebration of Buddy’s life will take place at Adaggios at 5999 Memory Lane in Greenfield, 46140, (317) 489-3333 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011; done “Trusty Style” so arrive hungry!
