Jean Stratman

INDIANAPOLIS – Jean (Just) Stratman, age 80, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis on February 25, 1943 to Ed Just and Florence (Smith) Just. She graduated from Scecina High School with the class of 1961. On September 14, 1963, Jean married her love, Robert A. “Bob” Stratman, in Indianapolis. She spent over 25 years working at Western Electric/Lucent Technology. Jean’s last job was at Comfort Dental of Anderson, where she worked as a receptionist for five years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church on Roy Road. Jean was a Eucharistic minister and taught premarital counseling and religious education. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and games, decorating her home and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She loved spending time with her friends and family. Jean is survived by her loving sons, Rick (Jewellia) Stratman of New Palestine, Dean (Shirley) Stratman of Carmel and Brian (Jenny) Stratman of Greenfield; grandchildren, Ben (Tiffany), Liz (Errick), Haley, Dean II (Amanda), Brock (Britney), Emily, Henry, Sophie, Brynn, Bridget and Mary Ellen; great-grandchildren, Cole, Peyton, Noah, Grace, Brantley, Isabella, Moses, Dean III, Ollie, Max, Theo, Juliette and Lilah; twin sister, Joanie Ayling of Bradenton, FL; and sister, Betty Phillipp of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Florence; husband, Bob; brothers, Ed, Don and Chuck Just; and sisters, Mary Ann Berndt and Dorothy Posey. Services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon with Father John McCaslin officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
