Helen Louise Plank

GREENFIELD – Helen Louise (Hubler) Plank, age 90, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at Golden Living Center at Brandywine. Born on August 31, 1920 in Braffetsville, Ohio she was the daughter of Ralph and Maude (McKinney) Hubler. She graduated from New Madison High. Helen married Bufford “Dutch” Plank on June 10, 1942. Helen worked as a manager for Betty Brite Dry Cleaners in Indianapolis for many years before retiring. She was a member of Knightstown Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and a Deaconess for Agape Christian Church where she was involved in the Women’s Group and worked with the youth. Helen served as both a 4-H and Girl Scout leader. She was a volunteer EMT for Buck Creek Township Fire Department, a member of the Hancock County Home Ec Club, Women’s Leader of Farm Bureau, served on the State Highway Safety Committee, volunteered for the Pan Am Games and was an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary in New Madison, Ohio. Helen also enjoyed gardening, traveling throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico; she collected baskets, ceramic chickens and loved her family and church. Surviving her are her daughter, Deanna “Dee” (Walter) Steely of Amelia, Ohio; sons, Terry (Pat) Plank of Danville, Jack (Linda) Plank of Port Charlotte, Florida, and Tim (Sandy) Plank of McCordsville; siblings, Jim (Daisy) Hubler of Tennessee, Colleen (Bill) Brickler of Ohio, Joan Parks of Texas, Norma Gettinger of Indiana, and Carol Brown of Arkansas; grandchildren, Krista, Josh, Ashley, Mike, David, Heather, Melody, and Effie Jo; three great-grandchildren, Colton, Shailynn, and Brody; two step-grandchildren, Ritch and Stacey; and three step-great-grandchildren, Conner, Mikala, and Kaci. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bufford “Dutch” Plank; parents, Ralph and Maude Hubler; daughter-in-law, Debbie Plank; and siblings, Murl Hubler, Frank Hubler, Dorothy Ray, Evelyn Frey, Bobby Hubler, and Don Hubler. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 17, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Reverend Greg Pimlott will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
