Glenda Pitts

Heaven has gained a true angel. Glenda Darlene Pitts, 89 of New Palestine, joined her Heavenly Father and reunited with the love of her life Willie Pitts on December 7th, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Glenda walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with an unforgettable grace. She was born in Attala, Alabama on August 17th, 1935, to John Ellis Phillips and Lucille Phillips. She spent her childhood in Pittsburgh, Tennessee and upon graduation made Indiana her home. She was blessed to meet and marry her love and life “rock" as she called him, Willie Pitts, on September 4th, 1954, in Greenfield, Indiana. Glenda worked in the banking and finance industry as a Branch Manager and loan advisor for First Indiana Bank. She enjoyed music, dancing, sewing (she was a true designer and seamstress and made many costumes for church plays, and school plays over several decades). She also enjoyed volunteer work at area hospitals where she visited children as "Bobo" The Clown! But above all she loved being a mom to her two daughters Joni Pitts and Lisa Honeycutt and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her two fur babies Sophie and Jasper were also the lights of her life. She is survived by daughters, Joni Pitts (Matt Ivan) of New Palestine, Lisa Honeycutt (Ben) of Greenfield, Indiana; three grandchildren, Rachel Cervantes, Gabrielle Cruser, and Tyler Honeycutt; also three great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Jax, and Quinn. Glenda was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Pitts in 2014. A visitation to honor Glenda's memory and giving spirit will be held Friday, December 13th, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
