Gary N. Titus

Greenfield – Gary N. Titus, age 71, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on March 25, 1945 in Anderson, Indiana as the son of William A. Titus and Dortha “Dottie” (Eustler) Sheets. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1963. Mr. Titus served in the U.S. Army. He served as a green beret special forces paratrooper during Vietnam from 1964 to 1966 where he received the National Defense Service Medal. He married Deanna “Dee” (Hardy) Titus on May 24, 1965 in Indianapolis. Gary most recently worked for O.F.S. as a powerhouse engineer and pipefitter from 1985 to 2003. He was a very active member at Bethel Baptist Church in Greenfield. He was also a member of Local #18 Heat & Frost, Asbestos Union for 16 years. Gary built houses in Georgia and Indiana. He loved his family, fishing and shooting and collecting guns. He enjoyed being outdoors and walking with his walking stick. Gary is survived by his wife, Deanna “Dee” Titus of Greenfield; son, Gary S. (Debbie) Titus of Winter Garden, Florida; daughter, Gina (Tim) Williams of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac, Anna, Allie, Elijah, Levi and Paris; brothers, William (Linda) Titus of Lebanon and Mark (Debi) Titus of Carmel; and sisters, Sister Martha Ann (Martha) Titus O.P., Sister Mary Catherine (Mary) Titus O.P. and Sister Mary Rita (Aimie) Titus O.P. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, William Titus and Dottie Sheets; and sister, Darlene Phillips. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Rev. Randall Parker will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made by mail to Bethel Baptist Church, 1610 S.
