Francis Lee Jackson

Francis Lee Jackson, age 82, passed peacefully away from this life on July 29, 2010. The son of Fred and Lillian Jackson, Francis was born on September 30, 1927. He attended primary school in Morgan, MO, and high school in Phillipsburg, MO. Francis worked in the food and restaurant industry as an owner and manager for over 50 years, including from 1965-1989 being the owner and operator of Frostop Drive-In in Osage Beach, MO. He had also become a chef for Keihin in Greenfield. Known affectionately as “Boss” or “Jack” to the many people he employed or worked with over the years, Francis was beloved for his ever-present sense of humor and his love of good storytelling. Francis served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in San Diego, CA. On May 8, 1949, Francis married Juanita Rae Cameron. Francis and Juanita spent 61 years together, residing in the towns of Lebanon and Camdenton, MO, through 1989 and Greenfield, IN, thereafter. Francis was an active Christian by faith and was involved in church life in every one of his home communities. He helped found Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon, MO, and Southside Christian Church in Camdenton, MO. He was a member of the Northside Christian Church in Greenfield, IN for the last 20 years of his life. Francis enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching baseball. He served several years as a Babe Ruth league coach during his children’s school years. Francis is survived by his wife Juanita; four children: Connie Cameron and her husband Pete of Topeka, KS; Stanley Jackson of Montreal, MO; Cindy Golston and her husband Steve of Albany, OR; and Dennis Jackson of Camdenton, MO; nine grandchildren: Matthew, Sarah, Amy, Andrea, Jeremy, Christopher, James, Mariah, and Josh; several great grandchildren; four brothers and sisters and their families: Thaddeus and Geraldine Jackson of Springfield, MO; Clay Jackson of Lebanon, MO; Willie and Charles Claspell of Muncie, IN and Judy and Bo Bowman of Pleasant Hill, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; four brothers, Onis, Hershel, John, and Jay; and one sister, Charlotte. A graveside service will be held in Roper Cemetery, near Morgan, MO, on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. Central time. Memorial contributions may be made to Roper Cemetery.
