Finis T. Norris, Jr.

NEW PALESTINE– Finis T. Norris, Jr., age 80, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. Born on April 21, 1930, he was the son of Finis T. and Willie F. (Taylor) Norris. Finis married Anthionette Denzio on December 31, 1949, in Franklin, Indiana. He worked for Hygrade Meat Factory and Allied Grociers, both of Indianapolis, for many years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Englewood Masonic Lodge #715 F&AM. He loved to work in his garden and ride his bike. He could even ride his bike backwards. Finis was a very family oriented man and his friends and neighbors will miss seeing his smiling face. Surviving him are his wife, Anthionette Norris of New Palestine; children, Barbara (Robert) Mounce of New Palestine, Sandra Hittle of Indianapolis, Vicki (Paul) Whittington of Greenfield, Karen (Jay) Pope of Pendleton, and James Norris of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Andrea (Ron) Hittle, Denise (Bob) Ehle, Jeremiah Pope, Jamie Hittle, Eddie (Tara) Whittington, Jacob Pope, and Robert (Erika) Whittington; great-grandchildren, James Ehle, Johnathan Ehle, Skylar Cumbee, Kyleigh Hittle, Blake Whittington, and Aubrey Whittington; numerous nieces and nephews; and his long time friends, Mike and Michelle Kissell. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Horace P. Norris, Mary Helen Williams, James Russell Norris, Reitus Taylor Norris, Willia Mae Thomas, and Marjorie Humphrey; grandson, Taylor Lee Pope; son-in-law, James Richard Hittle, II; and mother-in-law, Fannie Price. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 6, 2010, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 7, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis.
