Edna L. Krug

NEW PALESTINE – Edna L. Krug, age 92, of New Palestine, passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 15, 2010. She was born in New Haven, Indiana, to August and Anna Bremer. In 1938, she married Robert Rekeweg and together they bought the family farm in Woodburn, Indiana, in 1947. Robert passed away in 1958, but the farm continues today. In 1959, she married Reverend Werner Krug, minister of Zion Lutheran Church in New Palestine. Werner preceded her in death in 1996. Edna was a hard working, loving farm wife and a devoted minister’s wife. She was a fun and loving mother and grandmother to six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sixteen step-grandchildren; and numerous step-great-grancdhildren. Edna worked many years for L.S. Ayres in the downtown store. She was a beautiful seamstress and an avid gardener and cook. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Indianapolis where she was involved in numerous organizations. Survivors include her son, Roger (Beverly) Rekeweg of Woodburn; daughters, Darlene (John) Seifert and Ruth (Robert) Boyer, both of New Palestine; brother, Orville Bremer of Monroeville; step-children, Phillip (Dee) Krug of Denver, CO, Joan (Ronald) Venderly of Fort Wayne, Marlis (Donald) Ortel of New Palestine, and Margery (Chuck) Lembke of Spring Lake, MI; and her many grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter, Donald, and Wilmer Bremer; and her sister, Helen Scott. Visitation will be on Friday, September 17, 2010, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. Interment will be on Sunday, September 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Woodburn, Indiana. Visitation will follow the burial at Christ Lutheran Church in Woodburn.
