Daniel Sweeney

NEW PALESTINE – Daniel Brian Sweeney, age 67, of New Palestine, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis on December 30, 1957 to Jerry and Shirley (Bartholomew) Sweeney. He graduated from Warren Central High School in 1977 and received his associates degree from Ivy Tech Community College. Daniel met and married the love of his life Nancy Denton, while working at Western Electric, and they were married on January 1, 1983 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a HVAC Service Technician and retired from Harlan Sprague Dawley in 2010. He was a member of Brookville Road Community Church and spent many years working with Joyland Youth Ministries. Daniel loved working on cars and was considered a talented handyman. One of his favorite sodas was Diet Big K Cola and he greatly enjoyed fishing when he had the time. He had a passion for some television classics, such as, the Andy Griffith Show, M.A.S.H., and The Rifleman. He was also very proud that he was EMT and a volunteer firefighter for Warren Township and able to serve his community. Daniel loved his grandbabies, had an enthusiasm for dad jokes, and was a devoted husband to Nancy. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Sweeney; daughter, Kristie (Darrin) Ruling; sisters, Maureen Sweeney and Carrie (Scott) Lamb; sister-in-law, Kathy Sweeney; two grandchildren, Chloe and Cailyn Ruling; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Sweeney; wife, Nancy Sweeney; and brother, Mike Sweeney. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Brookville Road Community Church, 7480 W US-52, New Palestine, IN 46163 with viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the American Diabetes Association at P.O.
