Clyde Cross

BEECH GROVE – Clyde Cross, age 79, passed away on March 1, 2010 at his home in Beech Grove. Born in Bristol, Tennessee, on August 21, 1930, he was the son of Lee and Emmer (Lawson) Cross. Mr. Cross married Patsy “Pat” Correll on November 25, 1988 in Springfield, MO. He worked at IUPUI in Indianapolis for over thirty two years before retiring in 1992 as a Maintenance Foreman. Previously, he owned Gulf Gas Station in Indianapolis, had owned a coin shop, and had worked at Flanner and Buchanan for many years following retirement. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 669 which is now in Mooresville and was a member of the Murat Shrine police club. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and was Past Patron of the O.E.S. #393 Mr. Cross was a Kentucky Colonel, a volunteer and member of Better Breathers, and was an Honorary Deputy Sheriff in 1980. Surviving him are his wife, Pat Cross of Beech Grove; children, Mike (Rose) Cross of Avon, Cathy Dickerson of Oak Harbor, Washington, and Tom (Kim) Cross of Indianapolis; grandson, Bradley Dickerson of Newburg, Oregon; and one great-grandson, Ryan Dickerson. He is also survived by a loving family of parents-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and a nephew. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Richard Cross; four brothers; and three sisters. Visitation will be on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with a Masonic Service to take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Reverend Paul Enyart will officiate and burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
