Burton Davis

GREENFIELD – Burton Rockford MacArthur Davis, age 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Community Hospital East. He was born in Parkers Lake, Kentucky on January 21, 1945 to Levi Claude and Gracie Lee (Corder) Davis. He attended McCreary High School in Kentucky. On December 25, 1964, Burton married Lula Marie (Gilreath) in Marsh Creek, Kentucky. He worked for Mitchell & Scott Machine Corporation as a machine operator for many years before retiring in 1998. Burton was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Acton, IN. He enjoyed attending church and reading his bible. Burton was an IU Basketball fan and loved fishing and being outdoors. He most of all cherished spending time with his family and was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burton is survived by his wife, Lula Davis of Greenfield; son, Fred Davis of Greenfield; daughter, Shelia (Randy) Young of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Brittany (Evan) Roberts, Amber Young, and Alexis Young all of Greenfield; three great-grandchildren, Brantley Roberts, Scarlett Roberts, and Levi Roberts; sisters, Gail (Litton) Nevels of Whitley City, KY and Jane (Richard) Polston of Greenfield; his best buddy his dog, Ginger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi Claude and Gracie Lee Davis; brothers, Paul Davis and Claude Junior Davis; and his sisters, Maxine Davis, Geneva Brown, and Nellie Cash. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 7925 Huff Street, Indianapolis, IN 46259. Pastor Bobby Dale Jewell, Pastor Tony Dean, and Pastor Joshua Dean will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
