Arthur Trent Detamore & Leslie Ann (Porter) Detamore

Together 50 years on earth, now for a lifetime in eternity. Arthur Trent Detamore and Leslie Ann (Porter) Detamore passed away in Greenfield, Indiana on January 6 and January 7, 2023 respectively. Their lives and relationship were characterized by love and service to God, their family, and others. Trent was born January 11, 1948 to Arthur and Berta Jean (Buckles) Detamore in San Antonio, Texas. Trent was a dedicated disciple of Christ, son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and football coach to countless young men. He served for many years in sports ministry through Fellowship Of Christian Athletes and Christian Outreach International. As a college student Trent spent summers leading youth through the boundary waters of Minnesota, which became a lifelong career of coaching and mentoring. He was the original "funcle" (fun uncle), giving extreme "Yankee-Doodle" rides to 2 generations of nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Leslie was born June 29, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas to Amos and Ora Lee (Berry) Porter. Leslie was a devoted disciple of Christ, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher to countless students. Always the most approachable person in the room, she greeted others with hugs and could carry on passionate conversations about books, movies, God and life with anyone. As a teacher she eagerly instilled students with expert appreciation of the literature spectrum, from Shakespeare to the 1960's lyric poetry of Dylan, Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel, and the likes. Her charismatic personality and lifestyle of encouraging others began as a Haltom High School cheerleader and continued to minister in every relationship for the rest of her life. They both cherished friends and family, an engaging social and faith life, maintaining close relationships over distance and decades. They remembered birthdays for their many extended relations and always had an open door and a helping hand for whomever needed one. They leave a legacy of generosity, loyalty, and unwavering friendship. Trent and Leslie are survived by their children: Jacob Detamore and Rachel Detamore-Clifton; their 3 adored granddaughters: Margaret, Susanna and Grace Clifton; brothers: David Detamore, Mack Porter, Prince Altom, and David Husted; and sisters: Leta (Porter) Altom, Laurie (Detamore) Husted, Mardena (Lloyd) Detamore, Janet (Rainer) Porter, and Betty Porter, and 15 nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by their parents, Arthur and Berta Jean Detamore, Amos and Ora Lee Porter, and their brother, Ronald Porter.
