Bonnie Lee (Kucera) Stanley

GREENFIELD – Bonnie Lee (Kucera) Stanley, age 78, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Community Hospital North. She was born on June 5, 1939 in Oak Park, IL as the daughter of Henry D. and June (Wolfgram) Kucera. Bonnie received her nursing diploma from Cook County School of Nursing at Grant Hospital in Chicago, IL in September 1960. She served in the U.S. Army, where she met her husband Charles R. Stanley and they married on November 11, 1961 in Oak Park, IL. She worked for Hancock Memorial Hospital as a nurse for over 30 years where she was the vice president and director of nursing. She finished her career serving others through home care and hospice health. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and Greenfield Christian Women’s Club. She was the volunteer coordinator for the Edelweiss Equine-Assisted Therapy Center. Bonnie enjoyed playing cards and games, golfing, doing crafts, and reading. Bonnie adored her family and enjoyed watching her grandson compete in sports. She was known as a caring and compassionate person and loved to serve others. Bonnie is survived by her son, Scott (Brenda) Stanley of Greenfield; daughter, Alison (Geoff) LaFlower of Greenfield; sister, Coralie (Larry) Myers of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Scott R. Stanley and Brittany (Austin) Marks; one great-granddaughter, Aurora Marks; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and June Kucera; husband, Charles Stanley; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Marilyn Stanley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Pastor Larry Gember will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
