Wayne Wade

April 20, 1944 - December 21, 2020

GREENFIELD – Wayne W. Wade, age 76, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia on April 20, 1944 to William and Mattie Mae (Young) Wade. Wayne was an U.S. Army Veteran from 1964 to 1967. Spending his time overseas guarding the Berlin Wall. Wayne married Wanda on July 2, 1988, sharing a love that stood the test of time through sickness and death. He worked 32 years at Ford Motor Co., retiring in the summer of 2000. He was a member of the American Legions Post 119. Wayne loved God, family, and his country. Prior to Wayne’s stroke in December 2016, he enjoyed horse racing, taking trips, especially trips to the casinos and river boats. He loved his bonus grandchildren stopping by and visiting always saying “Hi Pop” with a high five and never leaving without saying “I Love You.” Wayne is survived by his wife, Wanda Wade; son, Donnie (Lesley) Wade; daughter, Annette (Mike) Benore; bonus daughter, Tina (Tom) Riddle; bonus son, Michael (Jenni) Leary; grandchildren, Zachary (Courtney) Wade, Alexa (Amos) Stoltzfus, Olivia Williams, and Josh Benore; great-grandson, Xavier Anderson; bonus grandchildren, Megan, Nick, Branden Leary; and brothers, Donald (Marlene) Wade, Kenneth (Sheila) Wade, Greg (Deborah) Wade, Tony Wade, Gaphina Miller, and Billie Canfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mattie Mae Wade; son, Benjamin Wade; sisters, Joan Guthrie and Jawanta Phillips; and brothers, Ronnie Wade and Michael Wade. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A private funeral service will take place. Reverend Bobby Walden will be officiating. Following the service burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Friends and family are invited to attend the committal service at the cemetery. As a reminder, the government mandate requires guests to wear masks when inside our building. We are limited to a capacity of 25 guests at a time and please practice social distancing at the mortuary and cemetery. Wayne’s family would like to thank Zach Eppert with Grace at Home for the excellent care he gave Wayne. Also, a big Thank You to Rhonda Glenn with Brookdale Hospice during this difficult time for all the compassion and care she showed.
