Linda (Carlson) Carder

August 25, 1952 - February 2, 2022

GREENFIELD - Linda (Carlson) Carder went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of February 2, 2022. She passed away peacefully at home in Greenfield, with her family close beside her. Linda was born August 25, 1952, in Brookings, South Dakota to Wendell and Vivian Carlson. Linda was a twin to brother Lyle Carlson (Pam), had an older sister Gwen Carlson (Stan), and younger siblings Charley Carlson (Cindy) and Barb Boyett (Tom). She was preceded in death by brother Warren. Linda enjoyed a happy childhood and graduated from Brookings High School. She graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings in 1974. She met Rick Carder while at the university, and they married on December 28, 1973. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri and then to Greenfield, Indiana by 1982, where they established permanent roots. Rick & Linda had 4 children - Jeff Carder, Karen Fletcher (Matt), Laurie Carder, and Scott Carder (Claire). They had a wonderful marriage; Rick preceded Linda in death on June 20, 2003. Linda also had 3 grandchildren - Luke, Lexie, and Isaac Fletcher. Linda devoted her life to her family and gave her children a loving home. She worked at Eden Elementary from 1992 through 2016 and had a great passion for helping all the children she assisted. She enjoyed wonderful friendships with many of her co-workers. Linda was a founding member of Park Chapel Christian Church in Greenfield in 1986 and had been a member ever since. Linda loved reading her Bible, preparing weekly dinners for her family, talking on the phone with her friends and family, tending her flowers, spending time with her grandkids, caring for her dogs Dusty, Ginger, and Abby over the years, and loved anything turquoise or purple. While her parents were still alive, one of the highlights of her life was taking her family back to her childhood home in Sunnyview for family reunions in the summer. Linda had a beautiful soul and left a legacy of kindness, warmth, laughter, humble servitude, and charity that was and forever will be an inspiration to her family and friends. Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary with David Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E. McKenzie Rd. Greenfield, IN 46140. Friends may share a memory or condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.
