GREENFIELD – Dorothy R. Young, age 100, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born September 11, 1918 in Crete, Illinois to the late Herman and Mabel (Rube) Handick. She married Andrew Young on August 11, 1935. She was a member of Fountaintown Christian Church and Mite Society. Dorothy was in the Penny Club for 50 years. She was a housewife and worked at Brandywine School in the cafeteria for a few years. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Richard (Joanne) Young of Indianapolis, Robert (Sharon) Young of Florida, and William (Vickie) Young of Greenfield; daughter, Loretta (John) Colston of Greenfield; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Michael Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Fountaintown.
