Charlene Pruitt

INDIANAPOLIS – Verdena Charlene (Taylor) Pruitt, age 86, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at her daughter Sandra’s home. She was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky on November 29, 1935 to Lura Ann (Bullock) Taylor and Sherman Taylor. For over 20 years, Charlene owned and operated Charlene’s Daycare from her home. She was a member at Cumberland Christian Church and was a strong woman of faith. Charlene was a prayer warrior for her family. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and sewing clothes for her family. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Charlene is survived by her daughters, Vivian Kay Zigler (Dave) of Lawrence, Beverly Lynn White (Jon) of Pittsboro, Debbie Paulette Fetzer (Karl) of Indianapolis, Connie Sue Bowman (Greg) of Elgin, IL, Jeannie Darlene Franklin (Mike) of New Palestine, Sandra Elaine Carney (Bill) of Cumberland, stepdaughter, Connie Jo Bernard (Jim) of Russell Springs, KY; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda Whitaker (Billy) of Somerset, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lura and Sherman Taylor; first husband, Edwin Paul Crawford; second husband, Keen Pruitt; daughter, Sharon Ann Wildrick; and stepdaughters, Ambershell Kelley and Belinda Kiskaden; and siblings, Donald Taylor, Sherman Taylor, and Wilma Jean Massey Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Cumberland Christian Church, 39 N Starter St, Cumberland, IN 46229. A funeral service will begin at noon with Tom Scott and Greg Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to Cumberland Christian Church, 39 N.
