Why Preplan?
What is Preplanning?
Preplanning (also called pre-arrangements or pre-need) is the process of making final arrangements before the need arises. It is a growing trend in our society today. In fact, current statistics show that one out of two funeral services will be preplanned before 2010.
Why this enormous growth?
From our perspective, preplanning relieves families from difficult responsibilities at an already stressful and emotional time. It allows a person to gather the information needed at the time of a loss and make decisions on services and selections before the need arises. There are more than 80 questions that need to be answered and decisions which need to be made within the first few days of a loss. When a person preplans, major decisions are made and family members need only verify information. This is a much simpler process for families, which we witness every day.
What are the main reasons people preplan?
Research has shown people preplan for three main reasons:
• To relieve a burden from those they love
• To select the type of service and funeral merchandise desired
• To alleviate a financial burden from their family (price protection)
What are the benefits of preplanning?
Preplanning can:
• Help protect those you love from difficult decisions at a stressful and emotional time.
• Offer peace of mind.
• Help prevent emotional overspending by family members.
• Eliminate irreversible mistakes.
• Relieve difficult duties.
• Avoid possible family disagreements.
• Lock-in funeral service costs at today's price.
