NEW PALESTINE– Phyllis J. Morris, age 71, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on July 27, 1936, she was the daughter of Maurice and Ruth W. (Rhoades) Pike.  She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1954.  She worked as the Sugar Creek Township Assessor for 35 years and was also Treasurer for the Indiana Assessor’s Association for many years.  Surviving her are her son, Phillip E. (Susie) Morris of New Palestine; daughter, Cindy A. (John) Barnes of New Palestine; aunt, Lottie Beyers of Fairland; four grandchildren, Melissa, Jacob, Alex, and Amanda; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Preceding her in death were her husband, Eugene F. Morris; parents, Maurice and Ruth Pike; sister, Karen Morris; and twin brother, Phillip Pike.  Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary with Reverend Johnny’lee Sanders officiating.  Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 115 W.
