NASHVILLE – Herman W. Robbins, age 71, of Nashville (formerly of Charlottesville) passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Hospice of Central Indiana. Born on April 27, 1937 in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of William Henry and Ruby P. (Carson) Robbins. He graduated from Carthage High School in Carthage, Indiana in 1956 and attended Purdue University. He had served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Robbins married Martha L. (Glidewell) Robbins.
He worked for Delco Remy in Anderson for 30 years before retiring in 1991. He also drove a truck for Bill Mize Trucking and delivered the Indianapolis Star & News in the Greenfield area. Mr. Robbins was involved with 4-H Leadership in Rush County and was a member of the Dunreith Christian Church in Dunreith, Indiana.
Surviving him are his wife, Martha L. Robbins, of Nashville; sons, William W. Robbins of Nashville and Robert E. (Jennifer) Robbins of Greenfield; daughter, Tammy L. Kindler of Anderson; brothers, Fred Robbins of Bean Blossom, Indiana and Carl Robbins of Carthage; and grandchildren, Brandon, Derek, Shawn, and Joshua. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 17, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Ken Smith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
