GREENFIELD– Dale B. Kracht, age 87, passed away February 2, 2009, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield.  Born on January 13, 1922, in New Palestine, he was the son of Benjamin and Luzetta (Lueckert) Kracht.  He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1940 and worked as a farmer in Hancock County for many years.  He had also worked at Massey Ferguson in the warehouse and in sales for ten years.  He also worked for Commercial Motor Freight for eight years. He married Wilma Dake on February 19, 1944.

 

Dale was a member of the Franklin Township Farm Bureau, the Greenfield Lions Club, Faith Lutheran Church, and the Faith Lutheran Bible Study Group.

 

Surviving him are his wife, Wilma of Greenfield; son, James B. (Erin) Kracht of Bryan, Texas; daughter-in-law, Hope Kracht; one niece; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; three step-brothers; and one step-sister.   Preceding him in death were his parents; sons, Thomas A. Kracht and David D. Kracht; and a sister, Bernice Weber.   

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2009, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with calling for one hour prior at Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield.  Reverend William Daniel O’Connor and Reverend Jason Taylor will be officiating.  Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
