GREENFIELD – Charlotte Mae “Lottie” Smith age 93, died May 6, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.  Born on May 25, 1914 in East St. Louis, Illinois, she was the daughter of Frank and Charlotta (Schrieber) Tressler.  She married William Harold Smith and worked as a bookkeeper for Target and Ayrway for many years.  Lottie was a member of Fountaintown Methodist Church since 1935 where she played the organ for 60 years.  She was a member of the Eastern Star in her early 40’s and loved African violets and gardening. 

 

Surviving her is her daughter, Ardith Ann Smith of Denver, CO.  Preceding her in death were her husband, William “Pat” Smith; her sister, Evelyn Lauterbur; and her son, Harold Smith, Jr.

 

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community United Methodist Church (formerly Fountaintown United Methodist Church) in Fountaintown.  Pastor Byrl Shaver will be officiating.  Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
