GWYNNEVILLE– Archie K. Shannon, age 80, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at his home in Gwynneville.  Born on November 1, 1927, in Auburn, Kentucky, he was the son of Ruth Cates.  He married Dorothy J. Davis on October 4, 1947, in Franklin, Kentucky.  Mr. Shannon was an operating engineer and owner of A.K. Shannon Excavating Company, Inc. for 42 years.  He was a member and elder of the Gwynneville Christian Church.  Survivors include his sons, John G. (Jackie) Shannon of Morristown and Mark E. (Lauri) Shannon of Shelbyville; daughters, Deborah J. (David) Hider and A. Kay (Ronnie) Utterback both of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife; mother, sister, Erlene Hill; and grandson, Douglas K. Rigney.  Visitation will be Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary.  Pastor Nick Keaton will officiate and burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Gwynneville Christian Church, c/o Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W.
