GREENFIELD, IN – John Leroy Denison, 59 years old, from Greenfield, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 in North Carolina.  John was born on November 9, 1948 to Carl and Evelyn Denison in Elkhart, Indiana.  John was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather with a kind and gentle spirit.  He had a passion for politics, was an avid golfer, and loved to visit his family in North Carolina.  He graduated from Valparaiso High School and attended Purdue University.  John served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1977.  He is survived by his wife Dawn Denison (Wellman), daughters Heather Batchelor and Heidi Barefoot, grandchildren: Samantha Smith, Macie and Colby Barefoot; mother, Evelyn Denison, and siblings: Steve Denison, Becky Hickey, Jean Moser, Patricia Denison, Chuck Denison, and his beloved dog, Cici.  He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Denison and sister, Mary Denison.  There will be a visitation at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, Indiana at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 30^th followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in memory of John.
