GREENFIELD– Delores P. Hawkins, age 78, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008. Born on October 10, 1930, in Lore City, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles and Amanda (Ankrom) Dearth. She graduated from Lore City High School and married John W. Hawkins on September 11, 1954.
Delores worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Lore City UMC. She was also a member of the Gibson Homemakers Club in Ohio, and the UMC Women in Eden and in Lore City. Her favorite hobbies were quilting and gardening.
Surviving her are her husband, John W. Hawkins of Greenfield; daughters, Jackie (Gary) Casto and Rhonda (Lynn) Greenwalt, both of Greenfield; grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Casto and Aaron and Sarah Greenwalt, all of Greenfield; siblings, Omer (Stella) Dearth of Florida, Madalyn (Galen) St. Clair of Cincinnati, and Millie Dearth of Senecaville, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Amanda Dearth; son, Charles Hawkins; three brothers, Wilfred Dearth, Myran Dearth, and Willard Dearth; and one sister, Aletha Long.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 26, 2008 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, with a prayer service officiated by Reverend Sally Dickerson at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home in Senecaville, Ohio. Funeral services will follow in Ohio on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home with Reverend Carol Touvell officiating. Burial will follow at Guernsey County Memory Gardens in Cambridge, Ohio.
