FORTVILLE– Billy Ray Selvidge, age 67, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.  Born on August 8, 1941, in Kingston, Tennessee, he was the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Johnson) Selvidge.  He graduated from Lawrence Central High School and received an associates degree from Ivy Tech in Indianapolis.  He married Wanda Eskew Rose on February 16, 1980, in Greenfield. 

 

Mr. Selvidge worked for Daimler Chrysler for 33 years before retiring in 2000.  He was a member of the American Legion in Noblesville, the Moose Lodge in Missouri, and the Fortville United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the UAW Local 685.  Mr. Selvidge enjoyed woodworking, home repair, bingo, and dancing.  He also loved camping and fishing and spending his winters in Florida. 

 

Surviving him are his wife, Wanda Eskew Rose Selvidge of Fortville; children, Kimberley Fugate of Columbus, Ohio, Angela Walker of Kingston, Tennessee, Sean Rose of McCordsville, and Dawne Rutland of Westfield; siblings, Fay Ladd of Harriman, Tennessee, Janice Roberts of Kingston, Tennessee, Edward Selvidge of Fayettesville, Tennessee, Carl Selvidge of Loudon, Tennessee, and Otis Slevidge of Kingston, Tennessee; niece, Donna Rucker Hoagland; numerous other nieces and nephews; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Selvidge; and daughter, Deborah Selvidge. 

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Fortville.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Fortville United Methodist Church in Fortville.  Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
