SHELBYVILLE– Joseph Clifford Lane, age 75, died on Thursday, November 6, 2008 in Shelbyville. Born on September 22, 1933, in Medora, Indiana, he was the son of Elmer James Lane and D. Pauline (Scott) Wade. He graduated from Beech Grove High School and attended IUPUI. Joseph married Judith A. Pampel on November 18, 1961, in Remington, Indiana.
Joseph was a dispatcher for various trucking companies through the years and also loved raising Shorthorn cattle. He was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, Cumberland Masonic Lodge, the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was also a member of the American and Indiana Shorthorn Associations, and the Shelby County and Indiana Beef Associations. He was also formerly in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving him are his wife, Judith Lane of Fountaintown; sons, James (Donna) Lane of Dayton, Ohio, and Jeff Lane of Fountaintown; two grandsons, Kaleb and Isaac; two granddaughters, Emma and Nicola; uncle, Ralph Scott of Medora, Indiana; two brothers, Walter (Sonny) Lane of NE and Oliver Wade of Reno, NV; five sisters, Dorothy Shultz of Fowler, Indiana, May Brown of Logansport, Indiana, Mary Jane Petersen of Fowler, Indiana, Nancy Berry of Ft. Walton, FL, and Olive Wade of Thailand; fifteen nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 2:00 until 5:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. A Masonic service will follow at the mortuary at 5:30 p.m.
