GREENFIELD– Vernon John Sanford, a lifelong resident of Greenfield, age 62, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.  Born on April 29, 1946, in Greenfield, he was the son of John and Mabel (Bateman) Sanford.  Vernon graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in its first graduating class and went on to attend ITT Tech where he received his Associates Degree.  He worked as a Sr. Technical Manager at Indiana Paging Network in Indianapolis.  Mr. Sanford married Karen Boltz.  He was an avid ham radio operator and belonged to the Greenfield Ham Radio Club.  He was a member of the United Church of God.  A nature lover, Vernon loved fishing and camping and working in Emergency Management as a first responder and weather spotter.  Surviving him are his wife, Karen Sanford of Greenfield; daughters, Anita (Nate) Herrick of Bradford, NH, and Mychele (Jeremy) Lannom of Greenfield; grandchildren, Sam and Joe Herrick, and Cierra, Jorja, and Hunter Lannom; sister, Joyce Crock; and many extended family members and friends.  Preceding him in death were his parents.  Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary with Minister Darris McNeely officiating.  Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.  Friends may sign the on-line guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or email condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
