GREENFIELD – Slata S. Mayer, age 74, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.  Born on April 19, 1934 in Odzack, Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of Georg and Maria Salaj.  Slata was an assembler for Western Electric in Indianapolis before transferring to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with AT&T.  She worked for 29 years before retiring in 1991.  She attended Burge Terrace Baptist Church in Indianapolis. 

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Salaj of Greenfield; three brothers and one sister, all living in Germany; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Marianna and Cletus Meyer of Greenfield and Beth Lacey of Greenfield; and loving dog, Keisha.  Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers; and two sisters. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 6, from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Monday, July 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Pastors Wendell Vogt and DeWayne Felber will officiate.  Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.  Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life of Greenfield, c/o American Cancer Society, 6030 W. 62^nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46278.  Friends may sign the on-line guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or email condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
