GREENFIELD– Rodney Allen Merlau, age 43, died Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on March 26, 1965 in Greenfield, he was the son of Raymond and Donna (Hollenbaugh) Merlau.  Rodney graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended Purdue University.  He worked as a farmer in rural Greenfield and married Shauna L. Rosenberger on June 21, 1986 in New Palestine.  Rodney enjoyed muscle cars but his true love was his occupation, farming.  Surviving him are his wife, Shauna Merlau of Greenfield; children, Megan (fiancé, Jonathan Cline), Rachel, and Zach, all of Greenfield; parents, Raymond and Donna Merlau; siblings, Lisa (John) Morgan and Ryan Merlau; nieces: Petra Merlau and Katie Wolfe; and many other family members and friends.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 19, 2008 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary with Pastor Mike Gorton officiating.  Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery.  Friends may sign the online guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or e-mail condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
