GREENFIELD – Robert E. “Bob” Burk, age 76, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.  Born on April 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Earl J. and Pauline (Buchfink) Burk.  He graduated from Maxwell High School in Maxwell, Indiana in 1950.  He served in the U.S. Army for two years as an M.P.  Bob married Rosie (Phares) Burk on January 13, 1951 in Mohawk. 

 

He was a construction superintendent for many companies in Indiana and co-owner of B&R Engraving in Mt. Comfort.  Bob was a member of the Eden Masonic Lodge #477 F&AM and a charter member of Mt. Comfort Optimist Club.  He was also one of the first Red Cross First Aid instructors in Hancock County and a volunteer firefighter for Buck Creek Township Fire Department for many years. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Rosie Burk of Greenfield; sons, Mike (wife, Jean) Burk of Leona, Texas, Greg Burk, Richard (wife, Trina) Burk, and Kevin (wife, Brenda) Burk, all of Greenfield; daughter, Cindy Burk of Fortville; sister, Shirley Mills of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren, Mike Jr., Shana, Chasiti, Cori, Caili, Richy, Lorie, Adam, Beth, Mitchel, Spencer, Carter, Jared, Bob, and Chad; and six great-grandchildren.  His parents and a daughter, Katrina S. Burk, preceded him in death.

 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 21, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary.  Pastor Greg Pimlott will officiate.  Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
