GREENFIELD– Rita M. Poeschel, age 81, died Friday, May 30, 2008, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on January 17, 1927 in Dunn County, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Charles and Olivia (Wallerich) Baier. She married Ralph H. Poeschel on April 11, 1955 and worked as a legal secretary for Hand & Quinn, S.C. in Racine, Wisconsin. Mrs. Poeschel was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, Wisconsin, and was very active with the church’s school. Later in life she was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Racine, Wisconsin. Surviving her are her children, Jane (Greg) DeLeon of Caledonia, Wisconsin, Dan (Julie) Poeschel of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Debbie Poeschel of Greenfield, Becky Fernandes of Greenfield, Dave Poeschel of Boyceville, Wisconsin, and Mary Kay Lewis of Manchester, Michigan; siblings, George (Catherine) Baier of Durand, Wisconsin, Dorothy Miller of Ravenna, Ohio, Jack (Chris) Baier of Eau Galle, Wisconsin, and Sharon (Gary) Smith of Arkansaw, Wisconsin; sister-in law, Marlene Sabelko of Durand, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Greg, Michelle, Daniel, and LauraLee DeLeon, Scott, Kristen, and Nicole Lewis, and Carly Fernandes; and one great-granddaughter, Morgan DeLeon. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother, Don Baier; and sister, Bernice O’Connell. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home in Oak Creek, WI. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 2, at 10 A.M. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, WI. Burial will be at the St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery in Caledonia, WI. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6030 W. 62nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46278. Local arrangements were handled by Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.
