GREENFIELD – Lurene (Shields) Hudson Gordon, age 91, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Morristown Manor in Morristown.  Born on August 16, 1916 in Jackson Township, Hancock County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Claude G. and Elizabeth (Morris) Shields.  She graduated from Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville in 1934. 

 

She married Harold Hudson on November 21, 1936 in Knightstown, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1983.  Lurene later married Hershell C. Gordon on November 28, 1987 in Charlottesville, Indiana.  Mrs. Gordon worked for the Hancock County school system for 16 years.  She was also a member of the Charlottesville and Greenfield Friends Church. 

 

Survivors include her sister, Maxine Boston of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters, Charlotte (Phil) Slaughter of Greenfield and Barbara (Jim) Shoufler of Fortville; son, Donald (Sylvia) Hudson of Greenfield; step-son, Darrell (Jackie) Gordon of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.  Her parents and second husband preceded her in death, as well as brothers, Tom and Morris Shields. 

 

Visitation will be on Friday, February 22, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield.  Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 23, at 10:00 a.m. at the mortuary.  Pastor Paul Enyart will officiate.  Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.  Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.  Friends may sign the on-line guestbook at www.erleweinmortuary.com or email condolences to sympathy@erleweinmortuary.com.
